How to
Get Started !
Step
1: Basic
Research
You
gotta learn before you can earn !
Before
anything else, you should explore Internet Marketing Register
by clicking around and checking things out.
Read
some editorial articles and news stories, check out our
Internet Marketing Glossary, Internet
Marketing Directory, Who's Who Top 10 List and
Recommended Resources pages.
This
should help you quickly absorb everything you need to
make an educated decision about about HOW to get started.
This
step may take between an hour to a few days
depending on how much you want to read and your current
knowledge level of direct sales and marketing.
However,
don't get too caught up in this step. We provide a lot
of information on our web site to be used as an ongoing
business reference, not as an excuse to research details
to death.
Most
of your significant analysis and planning will be performed
in step 3 anyway.
Step 2:
Select your Weapons!
All
of the information in this Website is worthless unless
you act upon some of it. It's now time for you
to step to the plate and take a few swings.
Select
one or more of our "recommended" Internet marketing
courses, e-books and or secret sites. Try to acquire a
broad perspective of knowledge about the industry.
Lesson
number one about the Internet marketing field is that
NO SINGLE PERSON has all the answers. Some experts even
contradict one another!
Part
of your analysis and planning should include comparing
and contrasting the techniques of at least a few different
experts.
Don't
skimp on your marketing education if you can avoid it.
The more knowledge you have, the more prepared you'll
be to capitalize on present & future opportunities.
Over
time, you'll find yourself building a sizable library
of ebooks, software programs, hard copy books, tapes,
CD's, etc. In the total spectrum of things, it's a minor
cost of doing business.
You
alone are responsible for using the appropriate resources
to make informed, competent decisions about your Internet
business.
The
cost of reinventing the wheel or making uninformed decisions
and guesswork is significantly greater than just "buying
expert knowledge" in the first place.
Here's
what I do:
Study,
test and tweak strategies and techniques from a variety
of sales and marketing experts. I call this blended
or
hybrid marketing.
If
you subscribe to our NET Marketing
Intelligence Report©, you'll get lot's of
ideas about how to leverage the most successful techniques
of the world's best marketers and sales experts.
Of
course, everybody's budgets are different. If you can
only afford a single e-book or course, then that's what
you need to do to get started. Not having the budget for
a variety of books and courses is not an excuse for inaction.
ANY
ONE of the e-books or courses we recommend will give you
an excellent start to get things going. In several months
or so, you can take a small portion of your initial profits
and reinvest it into your ongoing education.
Also, as your business grows don't be afraid to "think
outside the box" and try some different things to
set yourself apart.
Try
to develop a Unique Selling Proposition
i.e. something about your company and your offerings that
sets you apart from the rest of the pack. This is the
approach I have taken with my own web marketing and consulting
businesses.
I explain how to do this in our weekly
newsletter, The
NET Marketing Intelligence Report.
Step 3: Marketing Plan Execution
Once
you've acquired some good marketing knowledge (which doesn't
take long), it's time to execute the steps in your
chosen marketing plans.
Use
the FREE resources here at Marketing-Register.com
in combination with the ebooks and training courses you
invest in.
Use
them as a knowledge base and dashboard to quickly
drive your web businesses in a profitable direction.
Be
consistent and take regular action to accomplish your
short-term business goals. Once short-term goals are reached,
you can focus on long-term objectives for your business.
If
something doesn't work the first time, change ONE VARIABLE
and try again. Testing is part of the business and you
have to accept it.
As
Thomas Edison used to say:
Every
wrong attempt discarded is another step forward !
Keep
your momentum and motivation strong. This is like a one-two
punch that creates a direct pathway for your success.
Don't let anything get in your way.
Persistence
and patience really pay off BIG in this business!

Step 4: Tell us how you're
doing !
Were
always on the lookout for interesting success stories
to publish on our web sites.
Submitting
your story to us helps other Internet marketers while
providing you and your business promotional exposure on
Internet Marketing Register.
It's
a win-win situation. Just send
an e-mail and let us know what you're up to and how you're
doing.
IMPORTANT
NOTES:
Remember,
as with any business you need to accept the fact that
you need to put some real effort into this.
You
need to find or create products or affiliate programs
to promote. You need to select and execute various marketing
activities. You need to track your advertising results
and make changes if necessary. You need to test things
and tweak things accordingly.
In
effect, you're creating a customized marketing plan tailored
to your specific products, services, markets, needs, comfort
level (i.e. initial marketing budget), etc.
True
success doesn't come in days or weeks. You're
building a BUSINESS and you're in this for the long haul.
Don't be distracted by get rich quick offers on questionable
web sites or in Spam email.
If
someone is promising you a specific dollar amount in a
suspiciously short time period, keep surfing and don't
waste your time.
We
sometimes get asked the question: How
long will it take to see results ? The answer
to that depends on many variables.
The
short "approximate" answer is:
If
you are inexperienced or unfamiliar with Internet marketing,
be prepared for an initial "ramp up" phase of
at least 3 - 4 months to get things
going. Possibly longer depending on your marketing knowledge,
time commitments, motivation and or the level of sophistication
of your web site(s) and product(s).
This
ramp up phase includes getting your marketing education,
organizing and implementing your business start up plan,
picking your target markets, selecting
products to promote, building
your web site, kicking off the initial marketing and advertising
campaign, etc.
Experienced
webmasters can probably cut this time in half or less.
Remember, these are only estimates. Many factors come
into play in determining how long it may take to see initial
sales activity (market size, # of competitors, small ticket
items vs. large ticket items, your motivation, marketing
budget, etc.).

This all sounds great, but WHY should
you trust me?
Let
me give you TWO EXCELLENT reasons. . .
REASON
# 1
The
Opp Hunter
For
many years I've been quietly hunting elusive prey:
the
perfect business opportunity.
I
was one of those bizop junkies always buying up books,
courses, tapes and seminars by the bundle from late night
TV and those hard-sell business opportunity magazines
like Income Opportunities, Money
Making Opportunities, Entrepreneur and the likes.
By
day, I was a respected business professional working for
corporate America. At night, I secretly searched for ways
to establish my financial and personal independence.
Ever since I was a young boy, I knew I couldn't work for
someone else for the rest of my life. Getting my college
degree and working for corporate America were just "temporary
solutions" as far as I was concerned.
Over
the course of more than a decade, I've literally spent
more than $40,000 on
business opportunities
-- everything from Real Estate courses
to Import/Export to Stock
and Futures Investing, Wholesale
Distributorships, Network
Marketing as
well as early
and mid-stage Net Marketing Programs.
If
you saw the complete list, your jaw would drop! You can
see a partial list in the Articles & Reviews
section of this Web site.
I'm
a survivor of the bizop black hole. Most of the stuff
I bought never delivered on the marketing claims. Some
were outright ripoffs and scams. Others had good ideas,
but sorely lacked the details needed to execute successfully.
Some
were so ridiculous I never even bothered wasting my time
implementing them. Stubborn as I am, I kept looking for
the perfect opportunity. And I kept spending my hard-earned
money.
Fortunately
back in 1996 I reached escape velocity and pulled myself
out of the gravitational pull of the biz ops.
I
vowed to keep my curiosity in check and to make better
decisions about what business plans I would select and
use to become financially independent.
In
other words, I stopped buying "The Biz Op Lie".
In
the Articles & Reviews section of this web
sight, I describe some of my business opportunity experiences
in detail.
It
was also in 1996 that I bought my first Online marketing
course.
I
bought Jonathan Mizel's "Online Marketing Firepower
- How To Sell Your Products and Services Over The Emerging
Information Superhighway".
It
was the only REAL Internet marketing course at the time.
It was leading edge stuff. I used many of Jonathan's techniques
at my sales and marketing jobs from that point forward.
REASON
# 2
15 Years of Real World Business & Internet Experience
My
business experience definitely translates into a competitive
advantage for our visitors, subscribers and clients.
I
possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics
and Mathematics and I have my own professional marketing
consulting practice in addition to promoting products
and services Online.
My background includes sales
& marketing, Internet business technologies,
Internet business models, Internet marketing,
Online publishing solutions, enterprise search and retrieval,
sales automation and search
engine optimization & ranking.
I've
been there since the beginning of the Tech Boom
back in the late 80's and early 90's. As
technology and the Internet matured, seasoned and settled
in, so did I alongside them.
I
can remember building my own PC from scratch and installing
a Windows NT 4 network in my apartment just to experiment
with. I took things a lot further than most sales and
marketing professionals by actually DOING rather than
just being told how a technology works.
I even went so far as to get certified in numerous Net
technologies (e.g. Novell
IntraNetware) because I craved the KNOWLEDGE, POWER
and MONEY people received for intimately understanding
technology and its business applications.
Business
is my life. Over
the years
Ive been blessed with opportunities to work 1-on-1
with organizations of all shapes and sizes. . . from Fortune
500s to small mom and pop business operations.
Many
of the companies were household names Im sure youve
heard of:
Pepsi,
SAP, Oracle, The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal,
Aetna, Minolta, Columbia University, Panasonic and dozens
of others.
Here
are some highlights of my business achievements:
-
Created
and implemented Online and Off-line sales & marketing
campaigns that resulted in hundreds of sales calls
and millions of dollars in business revenue.
-
Closed
business deals ranging from a few thousand dollars
to over $1,000,000 in contract revenue. Some of the
deals took months of demos, negotiations and back
and forth legal contracts to close.
-
Led
and directed software reseller channels, earning millions
of dollars in sales and service revenue.
-
Created
new business models and helped companies re-engineer
their current models to take advantage of Online markets.
-
Traveled
the US and abroad for speaking engagements, business
conferences, sales calls, etc. Gave sales and marketing
presentations and product demos to top business executives
and their staff. My business travel has taken me to
30 states and 5 countries!
Unfortunately, I have also seen misguided businesses and
dotcoms go down the tubes while others thrived.
So
as you can see, I've been around the business block so
to speak. I've
seen the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY when it comes to e-business
models. I've pretty much seen it all.
As
a result, these unique experiences give our clients and
subscribers a BIG EDGE in the Online marketplace.
OK,
enough said.
Let's
get back to GETTING YOU involved in Online sales and marketing
ASAP. Here's an extra incentive for you when you decide
to get things going:
